2016 CMA Awards Nominees Revealed!

The 2016 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on ABC on Nov. 2 at 8PM ET. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will return as co-hosts! Performers and presenters will be announced in the coming months. It seems like it’s the first time in forever that Blake Shelton hasn’t been nominated for Male Vocalist of the year, and it’s nice to see Underwood return to an Entertainer of the Year nomination! Another special nomination includes, Joey + Rory for duo of the year, Joey’s life was cut short earlier this year as she lost her battle to cancer. Merle Haggard Spirit Award Added to ACM Honors!

The Academy of Country Music awards announced Monday that The ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award will be given during the ACM honors event on Tuesday August 30th. The award which is named after the late Merle Haggard will be given to an singer-songwriter who reflects integrity and steadfastness of spirit embodied by the late Merle Haggard. Besides crafting hit songs and genuine performances, the recipient of the award is also a person who has a singular vision in making an indelible path in country music!
ACM board President Ken Tucker explained why they included the award in this year’s honors.

“Merle passed shortly after our 2016 awards show and after this year’s Special Awards were announced. That said, there was simply no way the Academy could hold what may be its most heartfelt event – ACM Honors – without creating a lasting way to acknowledge his legacy. Celebrating and encouraging artists whose work echoes Merle Haggard’s indomitable spirit is beyond fitting. On behalf of the board, and with the blessing of his family, we are thrilled to create this important honor.”

The ACM Honors will take place in Nashville on August 30th. The show is being hosted by Lady Antebellum. The honors will also spotlight several artist including Jason Aldean who will receive the Triple Crown award,commemorating his ACM wins for New Male Vocalist of the year (2005), Male Vocalist of the Year (2013,2014,2015), and Entertainer of the Year which he clinched earlier this year. Glenn Campbell will receive the Career Achievement Award and Little Big Town will receive the Crystal Milestone Award. Other honors will go to Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood,Crystal Gale, Tanya Tucker, statler brothers, Jeff Walker, Eddie Rabitt, Jim “Moose” Brown, Shannon Forrest, Paul Franklin, Justin Niebank, Danny Rader, Michael Rhodes, Dave Cobb and Derek Wells.

It will also be a night of music, Lady Antebellum will pull double duty with hosting and performing. Other performers include Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan, Cam, Maren Morris, Cole Swindell, Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, Dan + Shay, The Band Perry, Pop Star Alicia Keys. A tribute to Glenn Campbell will be done by Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban.
The ACM Honors will happen August 30th at the Ryman in downtown Nashville. Tickets are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com. The ACM Honors will also be a part of a special that will air on CBS on September 9th! More information about the even can be found here.

Kelsea Ballerini lit up the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Outdoor stage on Monday Night, August 1st. Ballerini has had a busy week as she presented at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, announced her very first headlining tour: The First Time which will kick off October 21st, went to Disneyland for the first time and had The Greatest Hits Finale Thursday night!

We were lucky enough to attend the Jimmy Kimmel Live! concert and Ballerini had the cowrd singing along with her, even to songs that have yet to go to radio! Like the song “X.O.”

She performed her song “Peter Pan” which is #8 on the Country Radio charts and rising! Ballerini wowed the crowd with her stage presence and her amazing songwriting skills proving that she is well on her way to becoming a country superstar!

Ballerini celebrated her big week with a trip to Disney on Tuesday where she rode the Peter Pan ride, hung with Chewbacca, and danced with Jasmine! She also serenaded a picture of Peter Pan with “Peter Pan.” She even found Peter himself in the park and captioned the photo “I found him!”, talk about coming full circle.

Lauren Conrad‘s future is no longer unwritten but she’s taking fans back to a time when it was. Conrad along with MTV Is airing a special that airs tonight on MTV! The Hills: That Was Then This Was Now will feature Conrad spilling secrets from the reality show that premiered 10 years ago!

In the promo for the special Conrad promises

“We’re going to take a look back at the show and reveal things that we haven’t talked about before.”

Also Conrad who is now 30, Married, a fashion designer and best selling author takes a look back at the awkward and embarrassing moments that she endured for all the world to see in her early 20’s!

Conrad shot to fame as part of MTV’s Laguna Beach, she then became the star of her own show The Hills. Which followed her journey from Laguna Beach to L.A. on her quest to break into the fashion industry! Along the way America fell in love with the stories of Conrad and her group of friends which included Whitney Port, Brody Jenner, Adrianne Patridge, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

Conrad left The Hills after attending the wedding of Montag and Pratt who she had been feuding with since the early years of the show. When Conrad exited the show, her Laguna Beach co-star Kristen Cavallri stepped in and was the star of the show till it ended in 2010.
Since her exit from the show Conrad has gone on to be a fashion designer and best selling author. Also her days of being single are behind her as she married William Tell in 2014! The MTV special is the first time she has talked openly about The Hills and her time on it since her exit in 2009!

Interview With Stella Parton- Dolly Parton Duet Coming Soon!

What an honor it was to sit down with Stella Parton during our recent trip to Nashville!

Parton is the younger sister of Dolly Parton and has made quite a name for herself over the years! She recently released her 18th studio album, Mountain Songbird. The album has 13 songs, 11 of which are a tribute to her older sister.

I have been asked many times throughout my career to record an entire album of her (Dolly’s) music, but in my heart and mind, I never felt I could ever do her music or performances justice. So in the end, while making the decision to record this tribute album of eleven of my favorites, I decided to sing the story songs because they resonated with me the most. Dolly has always been my favorite songwriter, although I grew up in a family chocked full of them. It was indeed a daunting task to choose eleven of my favorite songs from a catalog so vast. I have chosen to sing them as sincerely and respectfully as possible and I hope you can hear that in my humble and honest approach to my sister’s beautiful songs. I am pleased and honored to share my sister tribute.

In our interview, Stella explained the difficulty of having to choose only 11 songs out of over 3,000! It’s amazing to think Dolly has written that many! The sisters also teamed up to write a song together for the project and Stella told us it will be coming out as a single soon!

Dolly has listened to the album and couldn’t be more proud of the way it turned out!

Stella is a great singer, entertainer and songwriter. All the more reason I am so proud she decided to do a tribute CD of my songs. She was there from the beginning of my career and always complimented and encouraged me in my writing. I admire and respect the way that she chose to do my songs. She stayed true to the original spirit in which I wrote them and yet found a way to make them her own. I really love how they turned out and I think you will, too. It’s been a personal source of joy to be able to hear this loving tribute from one sister to another and just to be able to work that closely with her. I am especially proud of the song we wrote together “More Power To Ya.” I hope you will enjoy this CD as much as we’ve enjoyed working on it for you.
