All the Reasons I Love You

All the Reasons I Love You
I love how much you love others, you barely even know,
I love how you encourage new believers so they can grow.
I love the sound of your voice and the smile on your face,
And how you bring about brightness to even the darkest place.
I love how you help others and have such a big heart,
How you help those on their feet, who didn’t have a good start.
I love your honestly and how sincere you truly are,
How you have reached others, who have seemed to stray so far.
Your selflessness that shines through to those who are blind,
And helps them to love God with all their heart, soul and mind.
I love your servant’s heart and willingness to serve,
And how much you care for those, who feel they don’t deserve.
Your comforting hugs that soothe and ease the soul,
Your words of encouragement, that makes a broken heart whole.
Your depth and understanding of God’s holy word,
And the importance of knowing, what’s beyond being heard.
I love you for more reasons than I could ever say,
And how my love grows with every passing day.
The joy I find in loving you is beyond what I could ask,
And growing with you in the Lord is my most precious task.
All the reasons I love you cannot be expressed in the simplest phrase,
Because everyday I love you in so many new and different ways.
Even when I miss you, I know that true love lasts and remains forever,
And for that very reason, I know that God will keep us together.
So even though I may not see you, each and every day,
You will always remain a part of me, for God always finds a way.

For Shannon, whose smile could brighten any day. Age 15

A Worthy Life

A Worthy Life
For Christ lived a life that was worthy,
and never once stopped helping or rushed in a hurry.
He cared for the less fortunate and gave without receiving,
He stood up for what was right and He never stopped believing.
He came to earth but once and on a cross He was hung,
With His name left on our lips, that will forever be sung.
Never did he exclude or try to hide an empty seat,
Nor was ever hostile to the sinners he did meet.
When others cursed Him, He forgave,
When others laughed, He was brave.
When temptation was brought upon Him, never did He give in,
For the battle He fought for us, He was determined to win!
Brought into this world, helpless as can be,
Died on a cross, so that He could set us free.
Shunned on the cross and yet He spoke your name,
Hoping one day, you might do the same.
Proclaimed His name will be, to a world that needs to hear,
What God has in store for us and why we are held dear.
Never could we forget, the reason why He came,
To give up His life and to take all our blame.
So thank you Jesus for all that you have done,
And at least know that my heart was won.
Never go through life without knowing what is true,
That Jesus came to earth so that He might save you.

For Jesus Christ. Age 15

A Wonderful Place

A Wonderful Place
Imagine a world where you could have anything you wanted,
What would it be? Would you wish for fame and glory?
Would you want the ultimate success or just to be content?
Do you know what I would wish for? You will soon see.
I imagine a world with no pain, everything goes smoothly.
What would that be like? Does such a place exist?
A place where all the answers are known but still intriguing.
I know of this place and can share it with you.
It’s a place that knows no darkness, nor ever will
Pain does not exist, nor do days of sadness occur.
Time? What is a minute or an hour, this place knows not.
These things on earth would be foreign,
If they existed we would not need a God.
If this place were on earth, we would not need a Heaven.
There would be no hope of someday seeing something better.
So I tell you of this place where we can always be together.
Time apart on earth can be hard, but it never lasts forever.
Earth is filled with disappointments but also little blessings.
Blessings are little glimpses of what we will one day encounter.
We pray to see more of them, to see bad times fade away,
So God gives us on earth what we need to make it through.
He sustains us through tough times as we pray for His guidance.
God will always be with us, it would be unbearable without Him.
I need His strength and His guidance, advice from others.
So I pray and ask of Him what I need and He sent me you.
I know of this place I told you, so in Christ we will be together.

For Courtney, who I was sad to see leave our work. I don’t recall if this was ever given, wrote another one after to give. Talking about heaven. We are still friends to this day. Age 17

A Whispered Name

A Whispered Name
A name whispered throughout the wind longing to be heard,
A voice endeavoring to be found yet proclaimed with every word.
A faint prayer muttered along with the pandemonium of countless others,
The vanished voice struggles to discover, when it will be accompanied with another’s.
To be heard but not seen, to listen but to not have a clear conception,
To seek for the implementation of the precise answers and not having that perception.
To be lost in the blustery weather and not know which ending leads to where,
Feeling so alone and having not a soul with whom to be able to share.
A call wailed throughout the systematic changes of the vast land,
And heard only by the Father who holds all the world in one hand.
Searching and seeking but never confident with what is discovered,
Wounded and scarred but never time enough to be recovered.
The world hears a cry but it never stops to take heed,
That maybe, possibly, another life could be in need.
That whispered name that went unnoticed has now been heard and spoken,
That voice that wanted to be found has now been awoken.
That prayer that was faint didn’t go unnoted,
That call that was cried was never demoted.
Those that were lost are no longer fighting in the darkness of the unjust,
Those that are alone have found someone who they can trust.
The darkness is no longer dark but has been brought into the light,
Those that couldn’t see by faith have been given sight.
To not only hear but to see and to have heard and have knowledge about,
All the great plans the Lord has for those who do not doubt.
So by faith one is saved and still another can see by that testimony of assurance,
And that by chance meeting has been finalized as a planned concurrence.
So whenever a name is whispered, it never goes unheard,
And God never fails to answer or hear every uttered word.

A Song From the Heart

A Song From the Heart
If you could reach the stars, would you give them all to me?
Would you help me become more than I could be?
“Even the best fall down sometimes, even the stars refuse to shine”
You are always there and “I can feel your heart in mine.”
No matter where I go, you will always be in my heart
It will always be “such a shame for us to part.”
“I will walk with you til the sun don’t even shine”
We shall walk together with your hand in mine.
“You are my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey”
“You’ll never know how much I love you, don’t take my sunshine away.”
“If nothing’s missing in my life, why do tears come at night?”
Yet “through the darkness I can see your light.”
“Too many years fighting back tears, why can’t the past just die?”
“Try to forgive, teach me to live, give me the strength to try.”
“You’re everything that makes me believe, I’m not alone”
You always make sure that to me love is shown.
“It only takes a little time to answer someone’s biggest prayer”
It only takes a moment to show how much you care.
“Light your world, let the love of God shine through”
and know “when the rain come I will hold you.”
For “in your name there is strength to remain”
The ability to withstand all of the pain.
“When I stand in your presence to my knees will I fall?”
“Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all?”
“Because I knew you, I have been changed for good”
You do more than one person ever could.
