A Song From the Heart

A Song From the Heart
If you could reach the stars, would you give them all to me?
Would you help me become more than I could be?
“Even the best fall down sometimes, even the stars refuse to shine”
You are always there and “I can feel your heart in mine.”
No matter where I go, you will always be in my heart
It will always be “such a shame for us to part.”
“I will walk with you til the sun don’t even shine”
We shall walk together with your hand in mine.
“You are my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey”
“You’ll never know how much I love you, don’t take my sunshine away.”
“If nothing’s missing in my life, why do tears come at night?”
Yet “through the darkness I can see your light.”
“Too many years fighting back tears, why can’t the past just die?”
“Try to forgive, teach me to live, give me the strength to try.”
“You’re everything that makes me believe, I’m not alone”
You always make sure that to me love is shown.
“It only takes a little time to answer someone’s biggest prayer”
It only takes a moment to show how much you care.
“Light your world, let the love of God shine through”
and know “when the rain come I will hold you.”
For “in your name there is strength to remain”
The ability to withstand all of the pain.
“When I stand in your presence to my knees will I fall?”
“Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all?”
“Because I knew you, I have been changed for good”
You do more than one person ever could.

Songs that inspire me. Age 17

No Greater Treasure

No Greater Treasure

There is something so innocent about a newborn fawn
Something so majestic about the daybreak at dawn.
Nothing more amazing than a child’s first word
Or the feeling of validation when someone is heard.
The pride one gains when they accomplish a task
The freedom felt, when emotions don’t need a mask.
There is so much beauty the world has to hold
So much to learn, that can’t simply be told.
An enormous amount of love to be found
Kindness and generosity are all around.
At times in this beautiful world, we face the dark
Yet in those times, we meet people who make a mark.
Those who shine their light when there is none
That is the majesticness of the night to the sun.
Their light cannot be hidden, neither can their heart
Those are the kind of friendships you long to start.
A glimmer of light that can help you find your way
A peaceful soul and confidant that brings joy to each day.
When you find someone who blesses your life beyond measure
You hold them close, for there’s no greater treasure.
That light you possess, won’t easily fade
Nor the impression on my heart you have made.
I won’t easily forget the compassion you show
The kindness and warmth, you allow me to know.
You bring happiness to each day that had none in store
You open up hearts that had been closed off before.
Thank you for opening up your arms and welcoming me in
The opportunity to know you, what a blessing it has been.

For Rebecca, who is always honest, fair, true, and loving.

A Day for Everything

A Day for Everything
There’s a national day for everything you could ever dream
And on February 14, there’s one for chocolates filled with cream.
Cards and gifts that can make your day seem bright
But they also have the tendency to make others lose sight.
The importance of “Valentine’s Day” is not just for romance
It’s a day to share love with others, no matter the circumstance.
Friends, family, children, maybe someone you don’t know
Acts of kindness go a long way and don’t take much to show.
A kind note left on a desk, sharing something from your lunch
Taking out a friend or your parents for a nice brunch.
It shouldn’t feel forced, “something you must do”
There’s so much joy in telling someone “I love you.”
We shouldn’t need a reason to show love or be kind
But life gets busy and it often slips our mind.
It’s nice to have a day, to remind others how much we care
A gentle reminder that in a time of need, we’ll be there.
No need to buy a gift, acts of kindness mean so much more
Than anything you could pick out from some fancy store.
Try to open your heart to everything this day can bring
Let it heal up wounds that have still left a sting.
Love comes in many forms and unexpected places
And others will find comfort in the warmth of your embraces.
Everyone has something to give, you never know who you will touch
And when it seems like no one else cares, know I love you very much.

For those who may be hesitant about celebrating a commercial holiday or a romantic ones that is a reminder of pain or love taken away. There are so many other places to find love than just in a romantic partner or even someone we lost. Try to remember all the other amazing people in your life that need your love.

The Essence of a Nurse

It’s often rare to meeting someone so far into the career that they haven’t become cynical or lost that spark that lead them to become a nurse. Nursing leadership can be difficult and it takes a special person to still have a heart of empathy and compassion after so many years of service.

The Essence of a Nurse
The season was fall and the journey was new
Surroundings intimidating, but then there was you.
Your smile offered warmth, amidst the cold
Your personality soft, yet not afraid to be bold.
You know how to lead, but to also be kind
A trait in everyone, we don’t always find.
A nurse provides no judgment with their care
Treats everyone equal, just, and fair.
Times arise when there’s a difficult case
But a nurse doesn’t waiver, no matter what they face.
When problems arise and we need somewhere to turn
You offer an opportunity for growth and to learn.
A safe place to unload whatever has us worried
To solve any problems without being hurried.
The mind is at ease when there’s someone we can confide
Who cares for each worker and fights on their side.
A place of authority can often push others away
Yet instead of alienation, you’re the sun in each day.
Your door is always open and so is your heart
Never lose that spark that sets you a part.
You’re kind and compassionate, loving and true
We’re thankful to have a nurse as wonderful as you!

For Brenda. This poem was inspired by a wonderful nurse in my life. I hope you find other nurses who fit the mold.

Taylor Swift Fans React to Being Invited to ‘Super Saturday’ Concert!

There’s only a few weeks until Taylor Swift will be playing Super Saturday in Houston, TX before the Super Bowl! The concert is so far Swift’s only show of 2017 and is invite only! That’s right, fans cannot buy tickets to this show, making it even more special to attend!

ATT is sponsoring the event and has teamed up with Swift to give out over 500 pairs of tickets to those who entered their sweepstakes! Fans have also been invited via social media for showing their love and support of Swift!

Variety Beat got to talk with some fans about being invited and just how much it means to them! We also wrote a little poem inspired by this event!

Super Saturday

Super Saturday February 4, 2017 is not just another day
It’s “Holy Ground” for Swifties, attending Super Saturday.
They’re flying from all over, ready to dance around
And scream really loud, for it’s Taylor’s favorite sound.
These fans have been invited, their dreams are coming true
They get to meet their online friends and other Swifties too!
The costumes have been carefully planned, they’re going all out
Sparkles and glow sticks is what Swifting is all about.
They know the words to every song, they’re ready to scream
And watch as Taylor stands back to soak it in and proudly beam.
Her smile gives hope and a reason to keep believing
That life is worth living and our dreams worth achieving.
She gives to so many, we can only hope to give back to her
For she brings a greater healing, medicine can’t cure.
So for two hours we dance and sing without a single care
We forget all our problems, there’s magic in the air.
We hug and cry and don’t mind who will see
At a Taylor Swift concert, your mind is truly free.
Let the music transcend your soul and move you to your feet
It’s the perfect place to get “down to this sick beat.”
Jump as high as you can, dance until you’re sore
Being at a Taylor Swift concert is what Swifties live for.
There’s no greater feeling, than knowing you belong
Connecting with somebody because of words from a song.
Live your life boldly, don’t be afraid to be loud
Be true to yourself, you’ll make Taylor proud.

Superfan, Bianca has been excited about the concert ever since it was announced last year! Even her cat is excited about the big concert!

When asked how much this invite and concert meant to her she explained:

Superfan, Amy also shared similar sentiments about how much the invite met, especially since it comes following the news her father has cancer. Her family has had so much bad news lately that everyone broke down crying for they know how much this means to her and how it will lift her spirits.

2017 could not have started any better for me. On January 5th, I found out that I would be attending the Super Saturday Night concert and seeing Taylor Swift. I couldn’t believe. There were immediate tears and screaming. It was even better knowing that I would get to experience this event with my two best Taylor friends! The excitement of finding out that I would be seeing Taylor at an invite-only show is something that I will never forget. I just couldn’t believe how lucky and fortunate I was to get this opportunity. I have never been chosen for any of Taylor’s surprise or invite-only events, which made this moment even more special. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity and plan to treasure each moment leading up to the concert and the concert itself. I constantly remind myself that not everyone will get this same opportunity. I wish everyone could go, but there is only so much space. It is not lost on me how fortunate I am to be able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Amy goes on to say how much Swift means to her and how she has always been there for her:

Taylor means everything to me. She has taught me to be fearless, stand up for what I believe in and to not let others change you. She has also brought me some of my best friends and I will always be thankful and grateful for that. Taylor has always been there for me, through the good and the bad times. I hope she will be there for me in the future, when I need her then or, perhaps when I just want to relive beautiful memories…..such as Super Saturday Night. I already know February 4, 2017 will be one of my favorite days and I will never forget the day as long as I live. Taylor, I know I am going to have the time of my life with you! See you February 4th!

ATT is also giving fans additional ways to win with fan parties! See if they are coming to your city!

Wishing everyone the best time at the event!! Happy Swifting!
