Cole Swindell Pens Heartwarming Letter Following Songwriter/Artist of the Year Win

Cole Swindell was recently honored with the songwriter/artist of the year award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). He moved to Nashville with the dream of somehow becoming part of the music industry, no matter what form that may be. Swindell accepted the award via video message saying:

“It’s the biggest honor of my career by far because I moved to this town to be a songwriter…All I ever wanted to do was to write songs.”

He went from selling merchandise at Luke Bryan concerts, to opening for him, to headling his own tour!

Swindell has written #1 songs for himself as well as other huge acts. Just las year alone he earned 4 BMI awards for #1 songs he wrote for Thomas Rhett (“Get Me Some of That”), Luke Bryan (“Roller Coaster”), Florida Georgia Line (“This Is How We Roll”) as well as his own No. 1 “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight.”

Since signing his record deal just over three years ago (July 13, 2013), Swindell has been the writer on eight No. 1 songs including five as a solo artist. His latest No. 1 included his career-defining Platinum-certified “You Should Be Here,” co-written with the NSAI Songwriter of the Year winner Ashley Gorley. The song joins Swindell’s first four No. 1 consecutive singles as a solo artist (including Gold-certified “Let Me See Ya Girl,” along with Platinum-certified hits “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight,” “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey” and “Chillin’ It”) from his Platinum selling self-titled debut album which tops his own record of being the only solo artist in the history of Country Aircheck/Mediabase to top the chart with his first FIVE singles. His current self-penned single “Middle of a Memory,” off of his second album You Should Be Here, is sitting at No. 5 on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts and still climbing.

Swindell took the time to pen a letter to Nashville, thanking the beautiful city for being there for him, his family, his friends and his fans.

I signed my record deal with Warner on July 13th 2013, and had my first single picked, “Chillin’ It”. It was the best year of my life and I was in the middle of my radio tour when I got the call that we had lost my dad in a freak accident. How could that possibly be in the master plan? He was the best guy in the world, my biggest fan and was the first person I ever heard play the guitar and sing. I was in shock and lost. Who did I turn to?

Nashville. This town. My family. Country radio … It was like everyone had my back no matter what media partner, label, publishing company or PRO they worked for and I’ll never forget it. I realized that some of my heroes, like Dierks Bentley, had also lost their dads and were there for me. Things like that make me proud to live in THIS town and proud to be a part of this format.

“Country” means a lot more to me than the sound coming out of your speakers. To me it’s a big family. It’s how you treat others, how you were raised. It’s lyrics that can change your life. All that. We are all getting to do what we love and that’s because somebody took a chance on us.

Swindell just celebrated his latest #1 “You Should Be Here” which was inspired by the death of his father. Although the song is deeply personal to him, it has taken on a personal meaning for millions of others.

“You Should Be Here” will always be a special song for me. The first day it was played on country radio the messages I got on social media from fans everywhere broke my heart. I wanted to release a song that would help other people but hearing their stories made me know I wasn’t alone… it wasn’t about me anymore, it wasn’t about only my dad. It was for everyone that had been there and knew that pain. Your stories have and will continue to change me for the better. People asked, “How did you film the video and release a song that personal?” I never looked at it that way. The fans give me all they have and I will always do the same. Although I don’t like the circumstances of why I had to write the song. I know for a fact if my dad knew leaving this world a little early would inspire a song that would help so many, he would’ve had no problem with it. That’s the kind of guy he was. That’s the kind of guy I want to be. Every night I sing that song I know he’s there, best seat in the house no doubt.

Charles Esten Is Releasing New Music Every Friday! Listen to the First 2 Songs!

Freakin’ Deacon Friday has taken on a whole new meaning for fans of the man that plays Deacon Claybourne on the tv show NashvilleCharles Esten! The movement, which started during the shows run on ABC and was used to help save the show is now be used by Esten to bring his own music to the fans! Oringally the hashtag was used to share the love of Esten and his character Deacon Claybourne. As the show continues, the line between Esten and Deacon is becoming more and more blurred! Esten has became a familiar face at the Grand Ole Opry. He’s also been on the road with Nashville in Concert!

Now Esten’s releasing his own music, something that his fans have waited for, for quite awhile. “Through the Blue” is the first song Esten has released but he promises it won’t be the last! He plans to release a new song every Friday in honor of Freakin’ Deacon Friday! It’s been a busy summer for Esten who has been on tour with his fellow castmembers and they spent most of May and June petitioning with fans to bring Nashville back! They and the fans succeeded and the show will return for season 5 on CMT and hulu!

Esten’s new song “Through The Blue” is one of the first times we get to hear Charles not his alter ego Deacon Clayboure sing! His debut single as himself “Hot One” was released last year! “Through The Blue” is reminiscent of the country music in the 90’s with its sound but the lyrics are clearly about today’s world! The song is all about how to get through the rough spots in life, those moments that make you feel like there’s no light at the end of what ever tunnel you are in. That rings true with the chorus of the song

Might be a song you sing, or John 3:16 / Might be a long walk, or a phone call from a long, lost friend / Might be a steel horse ride, or just cry, cry, cry / You just do what you gotta do to get you through the blue

“Through The Blue” is uplifting and has a powerful message, when it seems like you are caught in the darkness of life, just dig down deep and find something to anchor you and you’ll evently make it through. The song shows why fans have fallen in love with Esten! He’s all about connecting with his fans through his songs and in person.

After the release of “Through The Blue” Esten took to Twitter to inform fans that he would be releasing a single every Friday, with an end date that’s yet to be known! In a Q&A he did on Monday night he said that a number of songs where ready to go and he is in the process of writing many more! He let fans know that he would keep going every single Friday as long as he has music to put out and that the fans were still enjoying it!

Besides releasing new music every week, Esten has been on the road with his cast mates sharing the music of Nashville all over the world! He has also been rasing money for the Lupus foundation by allowing fans to purchase tickets that would allow them to ride his tour bus around Nashville and take in the sites and hear stories of Music City! The event which he first held in June right before CMA Fest, is slated to happen again sometime in October this time with a concert attached!

“Through the Blue” is available on most major retailers as well as his second song “Down At The Lost And Found”

TV News: ‘Nashville’ Is Saved – Will Be Renewed For 5th Season

ABC may have dropped the TV show Nashville, but that hasn’t stopped fans from saving it! CMT has officially picked up the show for season 5! Hulu will also have the episodes available to stream the next day!

On June 10, 2016 almost a month after ABC cancelled the hit TV show Nashville, it found a new home. It was announced at CMA Fest that Lionsgate TV had reached an agreement with CMT and HULU to bring the show back for a full 22 episode season.

The news was celebrated by both cast members and fans during Nashville star Charles Esten‘s performance at the Riverfront Stage. Fellow cast members, Clare Bowen and Chris Carmack joined him on stage to celebrate the news.

It has been a long month for the cast, crew and fans of the show. When ABC cancelled the show fans, cast and crew began campaigning on Twitter and other social media to bring the beloved drama back. A petition from Change.org that started circulating the day after the cancellation had reached 171,000 signatures.

While the show was still airing Cast, crew and fans live tweeted the new episodes with the hash tag #BringBackNashville then after the ABC series finale of the show fans started a Nashville rewatch with a number of cast members joining in on rewatching the series from the beginning.

The Show will air on CMT, with HULU airing the episode one day later. No word yet on which cast members will remain, when fliming will begin or when the show will start to air. Fans still have plenty to celebrate though, that the show they love will have another year to tell the stories of music city.
