After being honored as the American Music Awards, Artist of the Decade, it’s no surprise, Swift was also honored as Artist of the Year. It is her fifth win in the category, the most of any artist. Which is why, she was also crowned as Artist of the Decade. Simply put, no one else has been Artist of the Year more times than her this decade, so it made sense she would be given that honor. Swift also won all five AMAs she was nominated for! FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO “You Need To Calm Down”, FAVORITE ALBUM – POP/ROCK, Lover,FAVORITE FEMALE ARTIST – POP/ROCK, FAVORITE ARTIST – ADULT CONTEMPORARY and ARTIST OF THE YEAR!!
While we were waiting for an empowering ‘Artist of the Decade’ speech, she truly showed no bad blood. We did get a little more of her feelings however, when she accepted the award for Artist of the year.
” I really don’t have anything articulate to say. Just the fact that the last year of my life has had some of the most amazing times, and also some of just the hardest things I’ve gone through in my life and not a lot of them are things that haven’t been public (her mother’s cancer battle). This industry is really weird where like sometimes people who do what we do feel like, as I’m sure some of you feel like this too with your lives, like you feel like your stock is either up or down and people either like you or they don’t or you’re feeling bad about yourself. I don’t know what I’m talking about other than the fact that this was just like this year for me has been a lot. It’s been a lot of good, it’s been a lot of really complicated, and so on behalf of my family and me — thank you so much for being there and for caring. I don’t even know what I’m saying because like literally speech of the whole night goes to Halsey. The winner of the whole evening for that speech.”
Taylor Swift was honored with the highest honor of the night when she was presented as Artist of the Decade at the American Music Awards Sunday night. Carole King presented her with the award, which was another highlight of the night for Swift.

On Sunday, November 24, Swift’s Lover album took home a win for FAVORITE ALBUM – POP/ROCK, making her the most awarded artist (male or female) in the American Music Awards history! She previously tied with Michael Jackson after it was announced she would be presented with the Artist of the Decade award.

A very excited Swift hugged Billy Porter and her publicist, Tree Paine before trying to figure out which way up the stage to walk! She greeted eager fans waiting for high fives on her way up to the stage before thanking her fans and her new record label for allowing her to make whatever kind of music she wants. She also gave a shout out to Brendon Urie and The Dixie Chicks who are featured on the album, along with Joe Little who worked with her on the album. She also stated she was so excited to perform for everyone later!
