LAPD spokesperson Jenny Houser said that “It appears he momentarily exited his car and it rolled backward, causing trauma that led to his death.” The police went on to say that Yelchin was supposed to meet up with friends but when he failed to show up his friends went looking for him and he was found between his car, mailbox and fence.

Yelchin has acted in countless movies, but the role he was best known for was the reimagined Star Terk francsiche in which he played Chekov. The newest installment is slated to come out later this summer. The studio responsible for the movie, Paramount Pictures issued a statement.

“All of us at Paramount join the world in mourning the untimely passing of Anton Yelchin. As a member of the Star Trek family, he was beloved by so many and he will missed by all. We share our deepest condolences with his mother, father and family.”

J.J. Abrams who directed the first two movies took to his production company’s Twitter to express his grief at the loss

After the announcement of his death, numerous tributes and statements appeared on social media to Yelchin who had been acting since childhood.
Jodie Foster who he co- starred with in The Beaver issued this statement:

“Anton… What a rare and beautiful soul with his unstoppable passion for life, He was equal parts serious thinker and the most fun little brother you could ever dream of. I am so honored to have been able to direct such a deep actor, so committed and genuine. I will forever be grateful for all of those little exchanges we shared, his contagious enthusiasm, his questions, his company. My heart breaks for his mom and dad who were a part of every anecdote. He carried their love into everything he touched.”

In 2011 Yelchin starred opposite Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence in Like Crazy. Drake Doremus who co-wrote and directed the movie had this to say to The HollyWood Reporter:

I’m still in shock,I’m having a hard time processing it. I just woke up and saw it online and thought it was a hoax, you know, like some of these things are. Then I talked to some people who confirmed it and it’s just devastating.” He continued, “Everyone’s devastated. I spoke to Felicity, who is very devastated and very upset. And Jon Schwartz [the film’s producer]. You just try to touch base with all the people you love and who changed your life, and he certainly changed all our lives.”

Yeltsin also starred in such movies as Rudderless (2014) ; Michael Almereyda‘s Cymbeline* (2015), Broken Horses* (2015).  DreamWork’s Fright Night remake (2011), and The Smurfs.

His Final Movie will be Star Trek Beyond which is slated to hit theaters July 22, 2016.
We send our condolences to his family, friends and all of his fans.

The Tony Award Winning Broadway Musical ‘Wicked’ Is Finally Coming To The Big Screen!

The Tony award winning musical Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz is finally coming to the big screen!  The movie has been finally given a release date – December 20th 2019. The movie has been in talks for over a decade and a theartical release from Universal Pictures has finally been confirmed.

The director will be Stephen Daldry and the script is being put together by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz. Holzman is credited for writing the book of Wicked and Schwartz was the lyricist-composer of the play. All key parts of the movie are in place it seems, except for the biggest one – the cast.

Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel played Glinda and Elphaba in the original Broadway Musical and they reunited just over month ago to perform the hit song “For Good.” It was the first time the two had reunited to perform a song from Wicked in 12 years. It was at an event to honor one of the producers of WickedDavid Stone. When E News asked Chenoweth if she and Menzel were planning another collaboration, she told them she couldn’t say because it was a secret.

If that wasn’t enough to get fans excited, Chenoweth posted a photo to her Instagram of her wearing a crown and promised big news was coming soon. While there’s no official word if it is Wicked related the crown does look a lot like the one she wore as Glinda and it’s got us freaking out!

Update* Chenoweth has revealed the big news! She will be in ABC’s Hairspray: Live! Read all about it! If she can be in Hairspray: Live!, we see no reason she can’t be in Wicked!

Although Chenoweth and Menzel have both expressed they are “too old” to play the parts, we are pretty confident everyone wants to see them reprise the role. Heck, use the original soundtrack, we don’t care! There is nothing better than seeing the Original actors in such an iconic role. It was amazing that Menzel got to be in the Rent movie after starring in the Broadway Musical, there’s no reason it should’t occur again! Menzel won a Tony for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Elphaba. Wicked also won a GRAMMY for Best Musical Show Album which included the original Broadway Cast.

While there is no word on who will be casted in the movie, it does give fans of Wicked something to look forward to during the 2019 holiday season!

Hey by the way, did you catch Lindsay Ell performing at ACM’s Party For A Cause? If not, you should have! Ell performed on Sunday, which was the same day as the 51st Annual ACM Awards, but if Ell could pull a double duty then so could we! We made a special trip to the festival grounds just for her! 🙂 We got there in time to see Maren Morris before her and stuck around to see Granger Smith after (galleries coming soon).

Ell is a guitar goddess, no really- she even gives guitar lessons to fans when she’s on the road! #GuitarTeacherGoals. As you will soon see, I was busy snapping photos of Ell to share with everyone, but did manage to record her single “By The Way” (see what I did there earlier?).

Ell also did a little medley and I recorded in time to get a little clip of Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood.” AMAZING.
